How It Works

These are made for closed-grow hydroponic systems. This choice of medium is ideal for the highest quality aeration and drainage, that soil and coco mediums cannot provide. The product is scientifically tested to maintain a neutral pH level. Thanks to it being low in soluble salt content and chemicals, this is entirely fungus-free. This is the grow medium of choice for high-quality large harvests, its superior aeration, cleanliness and porosity make it perfect for aqua and hydro systems.

How To Use It And What It Is Used For

Suitable for all closed hydroponic systems.

Before using Aqua Clay Pebbles rise them in water to remove loose particles and assure that no smaller pieces can block the irrigation system.

FAQs
What are Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles?
Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles are lightweight, porous clay balls used as a hydroponic growing medium. They're made from 100% natural clay, expanded at high temperatures to create a stable, pH-neutral substrate. These pebbles provide excellent aeration and drainage for plant roots, making them ideal for various hydroponic systems and as a soil amendment for improved root health.
How do you use Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles?
To use Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles, rinse them thoroughly to remove dust. Fill your hydroponic container or pot, leaving space for the plant's root ball. Place your plant and add more pebbles to cover the roots. In hydroponic systems, ensure the pebbles are partially submerged in nutrient solution. For soil mixes, blend 10-30% clay pebbles to improve aeration and drainage.
What are the advantages of using clay pebbles in hydroponics?
Clay pebbles offer several advantages in hydroponics: excellent aeration for root health, efficient water retention and drainage, pH neutrality, reusability, and prevention of algae growth. They also provide stability for plants, are lightweight, and can be easily cleaned. Their porous nature allows for optimal nutrient uptake and root development.
Can Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles be reused?
Yes, Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles can be reused multiple times. After a growing cycle, remove any root matter, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and soak in a mild sterilizing solution. Rinse again and allow to dry completely before reuse. This process helps prevent disease transmission between crops and maintains the pebbles' effectiveness.
Are Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles suitable for all plants?
Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles are suitable for a wide range of plants in hydroponic systems. They work well for herbs, vegetables, flowers, and even small trees. However, some plants with very fine root systems may struggle in pure clay pebble media. For these plants, consider mixing clay pebbles with other substrates or using a different medium entirely.
How often should I water plants in clay pebbles?
Watering frequency for plants in Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles depends on your hydroponic system, plant type, and environmental conditions. In most systems, pebbles should be kept moist but not waterlogged. For passive systems, water when the top layer of pebbles feels dry. In active systems, ensure the pump runs frequently enough to keep roots moist.
What are the disadvantages of clay pebbles?
While clay pebbles have many benefits, there are some disadvantages: they can be more expensive initially than some other media, they don't retain nutrients well (requiring frequent feeding), and they can be messy when dry. Additionally, they may not provide enough stability for very large plants without additional support.
How do Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles compare to other hydroponic media?
Compared to other hydroponic media, Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles offer excellent aeration and drainage. They're more reusable than coco coir or rockwool, and more stable than perlite. However, they retain less water than coco coir and are heavier than perlite or vermiculite. Clay pebbles are ideal for systems requiring good oxygenation and root development.
Can I mix Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles with soil?
Yes, you can mix Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles with soil to improve drainage and aeration. Add about 10-30% clay pebbles to your potting mix, depending on the plant's needs. This combination works well for plants that require well-draining soil, such as succulents, orchids, and many tropical plants. It also helps prevent soil compaction.
Do I need to pH balance Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles?
Canna Aqua Clay Pebbles are naturally pH neutral, so they don't typically require pH balancing. However, it's always a good practice to check the pH of your nutrient solution and adjust as needed for optimal plant growth. The stable pH of clay pebbles makes them an excellent choice for growers looking to maintain consistent nutrient availability.
